As technology hubs grow and become more established, they can help to build a strong technology ecosystem which in turn can attracts larger investors and tech companies to the country. This will have a positive impact on the economy by creating new jobs, promoting innovation, increasing exports, boost local economies and generate revenues for government.
In view of this, the Director General of the Ondo State Public Service Training Institute, Dr. Olumide Asere, established a world-class well-equipped tech hub in the Institute. The DG in his words reiterates that PSTI tech hub came into place as a result of acquainting with the 8-point agenda of Governor Oluwarotimi Akeredolu, SAN.
The project was bore out of one of the themes of the 8-point agenda of Mr. Governor, which is Digital revolution and entrepreneurship. The DG emphasized that digital revolution has created a fusion between technology and humans. It enables us to streamline work procedures, while also analyzing and identifying consumer demands and improving the business/customer relationship.
In furtherance of this, the DG commenced the operation of the tech hub with the Digital Inclusion Programme (DIP 2023). The programme is a special to increase the skills and global competitiveness of Nigerians. It entails a complete practical web/software development course in web coding.
The first cohort commenced in August 2023 and it will run for 6 weeks. The programme is opened for public servants, Bankers, Students in tertiary institutions, Senior school leavers, Junior school leavers.
Buses are also made available for transportation to and from the Institute. The boarding location is ONDO state library board premises at Oyemekun road, Akure.
